iPod 5th gen possible to remove battery and use power bank?

I had a bulging battery that was interfering with the wheel. I am hoping to just remove the battery and then run the iPod with the power bank. Will it work in this configuration? Thanks, Sean.

It won't work!! I guess the iPod will show "low battery".

While I can't speak for the 5th generation I know the 4th generation will only power up if it's on AC power. Depending on the power bank if it reports back as AC power it might work otherwise you'll be stuck with the low battery icon.

Sure it does operate from external-only power (sans internal battery). Supply it with 12 volt DC, positive on pins 19+20, negative on pins 29+30.
