We've all heard of 6 degrees of separation right?
well... can you link yourself to good ol' Steve Jobs in 6 steps or less?

I'll start...

1. I'm working on my masters at The University of Louisville where Delfeayo Marsalis takes classes from time to time. (he plays trombone, and I have talked to him a few times being a music major myself)
2. Delfeayo Marsalis is Wynton Marsalis's brother
3. Wynton just did a commercial for apple (which is really freakin awesome by the way)
4. Steve Jobs.

That was fun... your turn :)

1. I've met Bill Gates. TWICE. The second time, he apologized to me for missing a demo I'd set up for him. (He ran out of time and didn't want to miss his flight... otherwise, I'd've met him THREE times.)
2. Bill Gates has obviously met Steve Jobs. :)

1. I bought an Apple Computer

Did I do that wrong?

Your connections seemed a little stretched.
But this thread could be interesting......

You know... i actually never thought of that... ha... good job being very clever....

and yeah maybe mine is a bit stretched, but Im guess someone as big as Wynton met Steve to set up that commercial :)

Isn't six degrees of separation only supposed to be human being related and not product related. Maybe I am ---> on this one.

yeah it is... thats why everyone who said, i have an iPod steve jobs is CEO of apple, technically arent connected..... clever though :)

and what was your impression when you met bill gates? If it was me, I would probably be very nervous cause he could probably hire a goon to kill me at any moment, or at least give me a virus :) ..... and secondly I would have a hard time not asking him why he developed such a crappy insecure OS

He's hard to figure out. He's a brilliant guy, but I got the feeling that he really doesn't like having to deal with PEOPLE too much. Still, when I met him, he never said "umm" or "ahh" even once... you'd say something, and then immediately he'd give a complete answer so complex that you'd swear he knew in advance what you were going to say to him.

The second time, when he apologized to me, he had a couple of ice beers in him. DEFINITELY mellowed him out. But he remembered missing the demo and he was very nice about it.

ClayJ and I disagreed about Peter Gabriel.

ClayJ met Bill Gates.

Bill Gates and Steve Jobs were together in this picture.*

I think the Internet is going to have to shrink this 6 degrees of separation down to like, a smaller number.

*I know that picture has been posted to MR before, but I can't find it after 20 minutes of searching. Lacero?
I think you have to have MET the person in order for it to be a legitimate connection. None of this "I bought <x>" or "I went to school at <y>, and so did so-and-so" business. ;)

I know a guy who apparently did a fair bit of work for Microsoft in its formative years – I guess through him and his contacts I could link to Bill Gates in a couple of steps, and through him to Steve Jobs. Unfortunately I don't really like the guy in question that much, so that would stop that one dead in its tracks...
