MP 1,1-5,1 6 or 8 sticks of RAM

I have been reading around the forum and discovered something confusing.

In a cMP are 3 (paired) sticks better than 4 (paired) sticks?

Depends on what you are looking for. Three matching dimms (for each CPU) are the ideal setup for maximum speed. Four dimms can allow for more ram capacity. Personally, when I had my cMP I ran triple channel ram.

Assuming you're talking about a 5,1 cMP.
