Every carrier and store in my city is out of the iPhone 6, none in stock for weeks...but they do have the 6+ in every colour and either 16 or 64GB. Customers seem very wary of it?
I'm wondering if the resale values in 12-24 months time of the original 6+ will be much lower than the iPhone 6. This could be to do with the screen size of course, but I feel that 'bendgate' is putting people off.

"Bendgate" has no bearing on anything. The resale value of the 6 Plus is quite a bit higher than the 6 right now due both to its relative scarcity as well as the $100 premium Apple charges over the 6.

I see no reason to assume that next year or in 2016 that an iPhone 6 Plus would sell for less than an iPhone 6 of equal capacity/color.

If you think "bendgate" really plays a role with the average consumer then you've probably been on Macrumors and the internet too long. Most people don't even know what it is, they just want the big iPhone. It really isn't a factor in the grand scheme of things. Assuming Apple has sold at least 30 million iPhone 6/6+ so far, we would need to have several million reports of bent iPhones in order for it to actually matter. Just a few hundred, or even a 1000 is insignificant.

I've just said that the 6+ isn't scarce though. Not at all. The i6 is difficult to obtain, but the 6+ is everywhere.

I'm going to side with everyone else here; The vast majority of the public doesn't even care.

Resale values in 12-24 months will be similar to previous iPhones.

At the current time on the online Apple Store in the UK:

iPhone 6 SG 64GB 7-10 business days
iPhone 6 Plus SG 64GB 2-3 weeks

The iPhone 6 is far easier to get.

Just trying to give the op the benefit of the doubt.

I'm sure the op is accurately reporting the inventory. But Apple stores I've been in the last few days, say they sell them out as fast they get them in. So I'm sure the excess inventory only applies to the few Apple stores, in the world, around ops location.

It tends to be the opposite based on what most others are seeing, Apples own estimated ship times, and basically all reports. Could be a rare exception in your area though that's certainly not the norm.

Then even with all products stock being theoretically equal, the $100 premium Apple charges over the regular 6 will keep its resale value higher.

It must be a blip here then. For instance, the O2 website shows the 6+ available in stock in all configurations, but the i6 is showing '3 weeks'.

But the Vodafone website has 2 - 4 working days for the iPhone 6. That's as fast as it gets.

However, the UK carrier sites are very unreliable. My wife ordered an iPhone 6 off O2 when it said it was in stock. Then she was told it would take 2 - 3 weeks!

Such as with everything else in life, theres regular stores, and then theres bizarro stores, it depends which one you went to.

Where do you live?
Here in the uk the iPhone 6 plus is scarcer than the 6.

In the Network shops / upgrading Online - Possibly.

In the Apple Shops - Nope. I reserved my iP6+ Saturday just after midnight and collected it Sunday Morning.

Perhaps you just got lucky.

According to macrumors thread about the shipping times, the ship time for the 6+ is out 7 to 10 days. But I think you have to order one to see when you will actually be able to pick one up.
