Actually, it's all a big misunderstanding. The young lad in question overheard his parents saying that they'd like to have a cock on the roof and he misinterpreted what they were after...

There used to be a penis painted on that roof of the school down the road from me. Either it's been removed by google or it's been painted over cos there is now a white box over it! 🙁 boo boring

I was painting my grandmother's old fixer upper in the mid-'90s with my friend and across a 20 ft. diagonal he painted, "Metallica lives here" in white paint on a black flat roof. Years later the house sold. He painted it on two lines so it could be seen from a helicopter or low flying airplane.
It's not as shocking as the OP's picture, but it had the full effect of using a decent rendition of their classic lightning bolt logo.
Metallica does not live in a small fixer upper and probably lived in the city or north of it in Marin County in Mansions. 🙂
