60+ Sport bands on S5 Stainless Steel and Space Black

So I've been collecting Sport Bands for a while now, and recently bought a SBSS S5 to try as I've always had SS previously. I'm swapping back and forward as some bands look better with one, some with the other, and some just quite different with each.

Today I thought I'd put half of each band on each Watch and take a photo. I rushed through it as I wanted the light to be reasonably constant. All photos taken with an 11 Pro Max, straight from the camera without even cropping. The background is a beige paper table cloth. Weather was bright New Zealand daylight but no direct sunlight on the Watches, and I was just inside a window. Please ignore the fingerprints and fluff that are doubtless on the Watches.

Most are 42/44 on 44mm S5 Watches - some are my wife's 38/40 bands when she has a colour I don't have so they are too small. I don't borrow them so they don't get worn like that. I turned the Watches off to avoid distracting display colours.

We have around another 19 bands on the way to fill out some of the gaps and I'll take photos with those and can post them if anyone is interested in this batch. With global shipping as it is just now it might be a couple of months away.

Great pics, nicely done. I love the pic of the pine green on black, but when I had the pine green, mine looked way duller/grayer than that (I returned it). Yours looks like they do in Apple’s marketing.

I was somewhat worried it was a bit geeky, even for a forum where people discuss accessories for a phone accessory...

Yes, they are all OEM Apple bands. I only collect Apple and Nike Sport Bands, plus a handful of Nylon Buckle, leather or Hermes ones. Apple brings out a few new band colours each season, and also quietly discontinues a few. I started buying them immediately I got my S0 and bought a few throughout the time until late last year when I started to focus on collecting all of them.

There's a very active thread for collectors at the top of the sticky posts in this forum, and there's quite a market in discontinued colours, some selling for way over the original prices.

I believe I posted somewhere around 62 above and I have 22 more being shipped to me from China, the UK and around the US. 21 are Sport Bands and even allowing for my wife picking up some I already have there are probably 14 or so new to me colours. I actually hadn't counted until now, but there is something around 84 colours of Sport Band and 26 Nike Sport Bands. I don't collect the Sport Loops at all, but others have collections of well over 100 bands total.

Clementine is up there also in the pics. For me Hermes is the perfect orange, but as it is no doubt trademarked by Hermes, and Apple gets a premium selling Hermes watches, there‘s no mileage in it for them to get too close with a regular colour. Papaya is a yellower orange, whereas the original Orange is a redder shade. From memory Clementine is a bit pinker than Hermes. My wife liked Papaya best until she got her Hermes watch, but she also wanted Orange after checking mine out at the weekend. You can find Hermes orange bands used on eBay easily though, just don’t expect to get one for $49.

Pretty much like with the oranges, the Space Black Hermes Watch comes with a pure black Sport Band, so I can’t see Apple going back to a pure black regular one. My dark grey Black one is only a few weeks old - I bought my SBSS Watch with it.

Quite impressive, thank you! Most of these colors look spot on vs. what I've seen in real life, but I see a couple odd differences:

· Cargo Khaki / Black Nike looks nearly black in the photo, while I see a more distinctively very-dark-brownish-green in real life (all of which is weird, because "khaki" is a supposed to be a light yellowish brown).

· Pine Green looks decidely bluish in the photo, while I see it as much more of a grayish green in real life.

Just to be clear, you wouldn’t like a silicon band, it’d be hard and crunchy. Silicone bands are mostly the domain of cheap knockoff sellers on Amazon and Alibaba and they tend to feel a bit sticky and stretchy and attract lint. Apple’s Sport Bands and Nike Sport Bands are made of fluoroelastomer.

I agree Cargo Khaki doesn’t look right, and it’s probably my all time favourite band on the black body, but I left it as-is because I wasn’t messing with the photos. I’m not sure what to do about it - its]’s Mia-represented, so I should fix it I guess.

Pine looks quite accurate to me though. I’ve always though it has a tinge of blue (like pine needles).

I had another look at Pine. I see what you mean, but I think it looks like that in that light. Like most bands it looks different in shade or indoors, and it’s the blue hint that goes.

You should take a good look at the new Vitamin C band Apple launched earlier this week. It’s bright, but a true orange.
