"Between the Hedges"
It has reached epidemic proportions...
the bluetooth headset attached to the ear!

It looks like the Borg has assimilated our society! ;)

I'm curious, do you wear a bluetooth headset in your ear?
Even when you aren't on the phone... just in case??

No. I don't use my cell phone for business calls, so I don't get enough calls on my cell phone a day to put up with it. Of course, I could just wear one around 24/7 like I see some people do...

ugg... i hate that!!!
i only have it on, when I'm driving and talking to someone.

and the more observant part of me notices certain races doing this more (and no that's not racist, I'm not discriminating, just pointing out)

i don't even own a Bluetooth headset. i almost bought one, but then i got a car that talks to me...erm, has a Bluetooth-enabled stereo.

now i just look like a crazy person when i'm talking and driving. :D

I wouldn't be caught dead with one of those in my ear.

If you use it in the car, then fine. Heck, I encourage it.

Otherwise, there are very few situations where you can wear a BT headset and talk to people without looking like a complete douche-bag. I don't know what it is.

I don't own one. Since I work at home and have no cell service, what's the point?

When I go see my sister-in-law, she wears one constantly. She starts talking, and I think she's talking to me, I start talking back, then realize she's on the phone. I kinda think that's rude.

Nada. Never. Looks stupid if it transcends fashion and utility.

I love it when you see these young, preppy idiots that have one stuck in ear all the time and they treat everyone else like al lifeless buffoon... if they only knew..

No because I have gone through 4 of those and each time every other person will complain about the reception. I use a wired mic. And people who were a BT ear piece all of the time are tools.

Yes. Almost all day (at least while on the phone)...

Either I'm driving (and there the ol' ear bug is essential), or I'm applying fingers to keyboard. I hate to crook my neck and head to a gawdawful angle to hold a phone.

besides, after a while, the iPhone gets kinda warm, and I hate sweaty ears.

Never, and I can always tell when the person I am talking to is wearing one because the reception is horrible.

Interesting... as geeky and as technology driven as most of us are on the board... hardly any of us have embraced this piece of sh.. uh, technology.

I guess I'm just a little surprised

I need a new one as my old motorola is being finicky (disconnecting, etc. I think the battery is just over cycled). I need one.

I usually wear one at the office and on the road.

Geez, all the hate & derision. Remember that pagers, cell phones, and yes, even our beloved computers (especially notebooks!) once all fell into the same steaming emotional pile.

Me, I wear one when I can't hold my phone, or if the call is going to be overly long. Wired is fine, except for the wire part. Then the wire's always too long or too short and being a general nuisance. Wearing both buds is unlawful in many states while driving, and leaving one out just adds to the dangling crap getting caught in something sooner or later. Plus, everybody thinks I'm an old fool trying to look cool jammin' out on an iPod. ;)

I'm on my third (Jabra, then Cardio, now a Blueant V1). This last one is actually useful. I hardly even know it's there, and is voice-actuated/voice prompted. Better yet, you can turn that stupid flashing blue LED off.

I used to have one, but it was a two-ear bit that was also my stereo headphones for my mp3 player, and had it tethered to my phone so I could also receive calls. Even my boss, who is constantly on the move through the city/etc doesn't keep his in permanently, he puts it in when he needs to use the phone while using both hands.

I can't stand the things in my ear while I'm driving, instead I have a bluetooth handfree that just clips to the sun visor and has a mic built into it. Much more useful and pleasant to use.

I only use it when I drive. Using a handsfree device while you drive became law in California this summer, but I was already using one well before that. I can't stand it when I see someone driving with one hand while holding a phone to their ear and blocking part of their sightline.

Maybe one of the choices in the poll should be "Only when I drive"?

I use one when I'm on a long call and would like to do other things (like play a video game or get some work done). I don't walk around with one in my ear 24/7 though like a lot of people.

There is nothing that pisses me off more than these things. Earlier this year I had a guy yapping away on his at the driving range....couldn't believe it. Not to mention the people that walk in to the bathroom talking away on em.

"Bluetooth or crazy?"
The next time you are in public with your friends and see someone alone talking to themselves, take bets on whether they have a bluetooth set or are crazy. :D Fun game!
Note: This game also works in the "bluetooth or crackhead?" variety when you are downtown.
