You know what? Go to Apple.com/feedback and report this. Reason being is that 6 holes with the cuts being off are within spec, but I think 8+ warrants a return.

no dude... im just saying it bugs me.

they are distinct etches... just showing a picture to see if other people have the same issue.

Seriously, etches you need a microscope to see??

I give up. This forum is really something else.

Jesus Christ, you are going to use this thing, right? I guarantee you it will get a ding or scrape after a few weeks that is much worse than that, yet STILL barely noticeable. Actually, 15 hours or so of dirt and crumbs and it will be worse looking. This thing is going to ware with use.

HINT: When you need to circle an item picture taken 1 inch from the problem, MAYBE you are being a little too picky? Oh wait, right, you paid "Over $2000" for this, and it had BETTER BE PERFECT, HOWEVER YOU DEFINE THAT!!!!

Stupid junk-PC companies, now the whole world thinks $2000 (or even $1200) is an exorbitant price for a new computer.....

The grills in mine drive me crazy coz I can see the pieces of dust beneath them but can't get it out :(

Maybe when I remove the chin rest to change the hard drive.......

PS I think I'd still rather have the L8 '08 MBP over a SR MBP-- do you want a well defined grill or a graphics card that isn't going to fail?

Steve Jobs has gone too far

This is too much. From glossy only screens, FW400 decommissioning, slanted keys and now this kick in the face, *****ty grills. I can only speculate as to the effect that this deformation will have on the air flow to and from your computers vital equipment. This could be 8600x2 (17200).

...and i thought i was being silly by worrying about which screen i get. 84, 85...which is the good one again?

my mbp's sleep light's holes have the same problem, that is when I look under the microscope, but it does bug me a lot...

Yeah, what's with the rough surface on that aluminum? Eesh! I should have never looked at it with my electron microscope. Now I can't believe I bought this piece of junk.

Seriously.

Settle down people, nothing is 100% ever. I guess mine has some dust under the speaker holes but what do I care, if I plan to take this machine anywhere other than a climate-controlled sterile bubble it's going to happen anyway.

You guys do actually use your computers right? Not just stare at them day in and day out looking for any possible imperfection...

I would probably die of laughter watching you try to buy and be happy with a car!

Some hilarious comments here, and I see the point, but I do feel for the OP. With a high precision product like this, with a minimal styling, it does lend itself to very careful scrutiny, in the same way that minimalist architecture must exhibit higher than usual standards of finish, any imperfection will stand out. I am buying a Mac primarily for it's superior standards of excellence...yes I am....really.
