I just got a new ipod from apple under a replacment from applecare [DEC 2006]It worked great till i went to best buy and plugged it in to a ihome speaker system,it stated on the ipos something about a firewire connection. Now it is dead,it wont charge, mount nothing.I called apple and was told that it is no longer covered under its 1 yr warrenty becouse i only had a few months left on the applecare. So i asked him if they had sent me a replacment and i only had 15 days left he stated it would only be covered for the 15 days.so my question is does anyone know what could be wrong with it,or how i can fix it without costing me a fortune?

Really, there is just no way for us to tell.

Plugging into a speaker should not damage it.

Go to Apple.com support and run through their suggested restart, reset, etc. routines,
