Hi everyone.....
I sit here typing this on a 5 year old falling to bits IBM thinkpad in my sons bedroom.......i am using this computer to check my emails from Apple......
Why am i suffering like this ?
Because on Monday of this week my 13 month MacBook plastic 2.16 died on me.....
well this time it was the hard drive that died with a loud clicking noise......
After spending the day swaping hard drives with my daughters MB to check if it was the drive i called Apple to talk to someone....
Now my macbook 2.16 was a replacement for a PB 12 inch that i had for allmost 3 years with at least 3 logic board failures and optical drive fails ect before Apple offered to replace it for me with a new 2.16 macbook.....thank you Applecare !!!
Anyway for the last 13 or so months i have had lots of problems with the macbook, such as fan failure and overheating, both palmrests cracked requiring a new top case, and the bottom case cracked, the optical drive constantly phantom ejecting non exstant cd's, and now the hard drive failure.........
Anyway i got on the phone to Apple and had a longish chat to a rep......i am allways very polite on the phone to Apple as i find it gets you far better results than ranting at the rep on the other end of the line.....
So after about 15 mins of explaining the problems with the computer the rep put me thru to a "product specialist" someone he said had the power to sort something out for me.
And after a 15 or so min wait i was put thru, they were very apologetic about the wait, but i said that was fine and thanked the first rep as he handed me over to the second tier rep..........
I then went slowly thru all the problems to the second rep, in a calm fashion and without raising my voice.........and after i had done all this the rep said "It looks like as well as the hard drive you may need the logic board replacing and the optical drive, i think we would be better off replacing your macbook"
Yay !!
So after quite a bit of typing he said i could have a new unibody 2.4 MacBook !!
I was amazed.......Applecare strikes again......i have found that if you have applecare you are treated in a different manner by Apple reps than if you dont have it, maybe other forum users could comment on this.....
I live too far from an Applestore just to take it in for a swap....so this is how Apple do it.....
They emailed me some UPS labels, i printed them out and contacted UPS who picked my dead puter up......
When the first scan of the package was done i got an email saying they had locared the shipment, then soon after an email with an order number arrived....
The rep on the phone said that they send your replacement mac as soon as they see yours is in the UPS system.......so i waited for a shipping confirmation of my new MacBook......
I have JUST recieved the email saying it has been shipped by Purolator...and a tracking number........
The tracking page says this:
2008/12/18 04:46 In Transit in U.S
A bit vague, but i will keep you informed of its progress from somewhere in the US to me here in Atlantic Canada....
Watch this space.......
