My girlfriend and I tend to put money together and get something we both want/need.

I also believe I should do this, however sometimes don't you just want to do something romantic, something special?

Btw I was aware that valentine's day is only a tale from somewhere... but so is new year, christmas, etc. They're all just man-made and they're just reasons for people to share love, meet their families, give gifts to children, and ultimately get drunk...

Lol...

You propose on the iPhone now,

Wish I had an iPhone and he had one... Oh, we both have BlackBerries!

Yes the old 'Will you' and 'Marry me' items raised a laugh here - but hey - why not!:) - I'm sure someone has done it by SMS! - Of course being over 35 I got down on one knee :D - we're still together 16 years later so I guess it was the right way at the time......

Don't buy her anything and make her do the shopping; tell her you're saving up for the big one.

Craigy, Will you marry me? Oh and devorce your wife,

I don't get how people propose on the internet, my friend proposed to his gf on myspace...

Our ideas of what is romantic and special are probably somewhat different from yours.

"One more thing": My girlfriend got her Architectural digest with photos of us posted inside all the nicest homes in the world, and my face over Brad Pitt's nasty mug. She abolutely loved it the awesomeness of the photos, and my cutting and gluing ability. We date long distance right now, and it arrived at her door far too early, but oh well. And to anyone who thought my idea sounded too ridiculous to be true, then...:p

Hey everyone,

I'm a mac user, I'm thinking of buying something for my girlfriend (who apparently is also a mac user) for this valentine. I was thinking to buy her an iPod, but she's already got one (even though not the newest one). Also in this economic crisis I was wondering if I can get something memorably that's less than say AU$100 (I live in Australia btw).

I was thinking I could get her my self made photo book from iPhoto. The printing cost from apple is somewhere around $40 for the hard cover, or about $25 for the soft cover. The thing is we've only been going out for 3-4 months, and I've only got so many photos of her. I don't know if I can fill the album with that many photos, but I could give it a shot first.

I was also wondering if I should instead give her something like a photo frame, or maybe something like jewelry. In addition to this $100 gift that I was gonna buy, I'm also thinking of buying a bouquet of rose.

Any suggestions from anyone? Thanks for reading this!

I spoil my girlfriend quite alot during the year (ad-hoc) but she always prefers the nice things always mean the most to her rather than me sending money on her.

We went out to dinner tonight for our anniversary and I paid for dinner and gave her a photo album with key stuff from the past year all in about 80quid.

Next weekend I will cook her dinner for valentines.

She got me a calander printed with pics of her.

Plenty of low cost stuff you can do that will have great impact.

As mentioned above though it depends how well you know each other and how close you are (lust/like/love)

Go win something from the heart :)

A spa package is almost always a good gift. If she doesn't have a spa yet, search around online and find one nearby that gets good reviews.

Do you love her?

If not why buy her anything :p

Better buy a beer pack for you and invite some friends to watch a match on TV on Valentine!

(and make her make the dishes :p)

Just kidding

A shuffle would be nice :)
