Anyone heard any more news on when these will be available? If they are, does anyone have one or know where they can be bought from?

Yeah I need the slimmer one. Read on engadget a while ago that there were some coming but I guess they aren't out yet

Yeah, it looks like they've been released, but aren't for sale yet in the US. I did find this site that had them. They are in Canada. I see you're in Wisconsin so maybe you can hook that up. Or you'll have to wait a little longer.

The price has already dropped $10 on the 750GB this week. They normally drop the price every week or two.

only 5400 rpm, who wants a slow drive

i'd much rather wait for the SSD drive prices to come down and get a 500 gb drive vs a slow 5400 640 or 750 gb slow 5400 rpm drive. there are 500 gb 7200 rpm drives that are way better, the SSD is the goal for power consumption, speed and heat output/battery life, waiting on a sane company to drop the price on the 500gb ssd drives which will bring them a lot of market share but i'm just not willing to go back to a 5400 rpm drive. the performance hit and the waiting factor is just a "no can do" once you're used to a Macbook Pro's performance with a 7200 rpm drive in it.

i actually think with the way the platters are set up, the 640 would run faster than a 500gb hdd. i could be wrong, but i thought i read that somewhere
