Will there be a 64GB iPod touch in the fall?

It's like saying "Will there be a faster Mac released this year?"

And it's a definite yes.

If you get caught up in waiting until the next one comes out, you'll never have what you want.

I doubt we will see 64gb then as the only company on the market with one 32gb chip is Sandisk and their device is going for around $300-$340. I do think we might see 48gb model by then. 32gb + 16gb to tide many of us over.

It's a surprise it came this early, but much more of a surprise I can't expect. Apple's focus will be SDK, Macbook Pro, and Macbook Air. I think we'll see the 8GB iTouch disappear with a price drop in both, however, coming around summer time.

i doubt they'll go from a 8 and 16 gb touch straight to a 64 gb.

oops, didnt see that apple just released a 32 gb touch. so they might release a 64 gb by the end of the year.

I think 64GB may come next year. Going from 8GB to 64GB in one year is going too fast. Apple wants to keep the Touch alive for as long as possible. I think in the fall we'll see elimination of 8GB and price drop on 16 and 32.

At the rate that NAND Flash rates are dropping, more then likely we will...ALONG with a beefed up, new iPod touch in September.

In the fall before the Christmas buying season. Then 64GB early next year. That is certainly plausible.

The release of the SDK will speed things up a bit is my guess. That is why we may see 64GB this year.

I don't know, I'm guess it'll come faster than you think.
People are forgetting the other side of the equation. There is only a small demand for these sizes right now.

Most people actually *are* satisfied with about 8 Gigs right now. that's the "sweet spot" as they say. There is another segment of the market that "want's it all" but 64 Gigs won't be enough for them, thus the giant HD based classics.

I would think that the 64 Gig will arrive only when it's a trivial upgrade and the "sweet spot" has moved to 16 or 32 Gigs. Late 2009 or early 2010 is my prediction.

Autumn is still someways off so I think that 64GB is a possibility by then. This will drop the range down to 16GB, 32GB, 64GB making the 32GB a lot more affordable.

At the rate apple is chewing through the memory this time next year we could be on 128GB Touchs and SSD across the line (optional)

Instead making it so we have to keep buying a new Touch, Apple should release a Touch with a memory slot.

I think they are just going to drop the prices by $100 in a few months and then after that maybe they will have 24GB and 48GB versions. I would love to see 64GB this year but its never gonna happen.

64 Gig SSD is still $1000 for the MBA. Though Apple's use will help the price drops along.

I say within year from now since they just introduced the 32 Gig.

16 Gig $299
32 Gig $399
64 Gig $499

8 Gig closeout for $199...

at 32 gb, this is very tempting. (I bought the 16gb model but sold it.)

At 64 gb, it's a done deal.

I voted yes, but it may be a stretch. I'd be really happy if it happens though. I love the touch, but I take a lot of video with me, so I need capacity...
