Don't say you will never use it. You never know. You may never use of all 256GB, but you won't for sure if you don't have it.

Apple does it on purpose. Why else do they keep resetting my preferences to disable iCloud backup with each iOS mini update and force it back on. Changing someone preferences with a .01 iOS update is ridiculous and it’s done on purpose to annoy people to signing up and paying for more iCloud storage. It’s a money grub.

That’s the issue. Don’t reset people preference to disable iCloud backup.

I've never seen it reset on a .0.1 or .1 update but I can see why it would make sense to do it on a major update like 10 to 11.

You can't restore a newer ios backup to an older ios. There is a short period of time when a new ios comes out where you can still go back to an older ios. Also since major ios releases come out with a new phone release i can see someone returning a new phone and going back to their old one which may have the older ios on it still. if the back up switch was left on then you wouldnt be able to go back to the old phone until you updated to the new ios first.
sure its not a big deal to update your phone but i can see it being a hassle in the moment.

The cloud is only as good as your network, and of course, WiFi on planes doesn't allow VPNs, so I could never rely on the cloud as my primary storage. For me it's back up and a place to store things that I need access to but not often.
