Hey Folks,
So I just bought a Gigabyte R9 280X Rev2 and a 6 mini pcie - 8 pin cable from Amazon.

When hooking everything up, the fans don't spend and the screen doesn't come on in Windows or Mac OS (Can remote in though).

I have a feeling its the 6 to 8 pin adapter that I am using. I have attached the diagram below. The red lines represents where the cable gets the 2 extra sources from. Is this the correct way? if not could someone tell me what the correct way is so I could mod this cable to make it work?

Sorry for my english and hope I make since.

I have the same video card that this guy got. However, I can tell by his cable (in video 4:38). his cable is wired differently.

MY system is a MacPro 5,1 2010

Thanks

I have the same video card as in the video. It has a 6 pin and a 8 pin.

Basically I'm looking for the wiring diagram for the cable in this picture.

I stick with 6-pin, dual 6-pin, or 8-pin GPUs in Mac Pro. Outside of that modifications or external power are required.

Search the forum for posts on how users are powering the GTX 1080 Ti for some precise tips. It’s the same 8 & 6 power requirement for most variations.
