In terms of resale, his concerns are correct in which "refurbished unit" are dirty words since it does affect sale value regardless of its brand new condition. When buyers see refurbished on eBay, they think of banged up used items with a quick spitshine.

To the consumer, buying from Apple's refurbished unit storefront is a great value, as all all units are certified in like-new operational shape and all exterior pieces are replaced with brand new parts.

I don't think that most list or mention that their device might have been replaced by Apple at one point or another. It's just a used device as it would be if it was used from day 1 as brand new.
