Ok so I upgraded to a 6s from a 5s, the first one was perfect apart from paint flaking around the metal home button ring which I couldn't get over so got an exchange, this one is perfect apart from a recessed sim tray and I can feel the edge of the metal casing around the top of the sim tray as a result, now it's not a big deal and I have learnt that a perfect iPhone does not exist as I found with everyone I have owned but I just wanted reassurance i guess from fellow owners, if I exchanged again I could end up with more issues, like I said the tray is recessed and I can feel that it is when I hold my phone, any others have this with theirs?

Cheers

There is no such thing as a perfect iPhone. Although, there is a very high chance that the phone you have is within the tolerances specified by Apple.

For what it's worth, the sim tray on my 5s was slightly recessed. My wife's 5s and 6s have oddly "clicky" home buttons and the reduce volume button my 6+ is ever so slightly more recessed than the increase volume button.

Either way, you seem to have answered your own question.

Ok thanks for the reply, i could exchange again but its a lottery isnt it, the next one could have a flush sim tray but have other issues
Exchanged the phone for second time this one is perfect, shame you have to go through 3 iPhones to find one with the build quality that you should expect

£540 for a phone is allot, I don't expect absolute perfection but Jesus come on? Sim trays that look like they have been hammered in, paint chip on home button ring, it's an absolute lottery, I'm dreading my next upgrade if I have to go through a lucky dip again to get a quality build / finished unit

Anyway, rant over, life goes on

Did they exchange solely for the sim tray?

Yes they did, i showed them that it was recessed and as a result the right edge of the phone did not feel smooth when running my finger down it, i said if it was a £50 phone i wouldnt be bothered, they were really helpful, i compared it to another unit which was perfect and they were fine for me to swap it for that one, i got it from argos, the service was superb
