iPad 6th Gen to Air 4?

I have an opportunity to go from the iPad 6th generation to the iPad Air 4. Just curious if you think there is a fair improvement and/or difference making it a decent upgrade?

Yes, it is a significant improvement. The most noticeable improvement is the screen, which goes from 9.7" to 10.9", a 26.27% increase. The screen is also better, as it is laminated and supports more colors. Plus, the A14 processor inside the iPad Air should be over 2x faster than your current iPad. Cameras are also better. Overall, it is a much better device.

In the end, it will come down to your use. If you only watch videos or browse the web, you may not notice much difference in performance. However, the screen is still a great improvement and a very noticeable one.

Oh yes. Much faster processor (A14 over A10). Double the RAM (4GB v 2GB). Much better display (10.9“ laminated Liquid Retina v 9.7” non-laminated Retina). Much better camera (12MP rear wide, 7MP front v 8MP rear, 1.2MP front). It will feel noticeably faster and the casing feels more premium.

Entry-level iPads are effectively a budget device these days and they feel it imo. The Air 4 is basically a pro with a few high-end features shaved off. If you use your iPad a lot and you can afford the upgrade, I'd definitely go for it.

I’m also upgrading from a 6th generation but still don’t know to which iPad.

I’m between the new 9th, Air 4 or Pro M1. I use it a lot, but not for heavy tasks. Still I want a nice iPad for the next 5 years, although the costs are too big for the Air and Pro.

I mostly use mine for web browsing (but I also typically have like 100 tabs open). With iPadOS 15 Beta and 3GB RAM iPads, I'm already experiencing way more reloading than I find tolerable.

Personally, I'd go for the M1 with at least 8GB RAM if I wanted 5 years but I'm picky.

There's an Air 2, Pro 9.7 and 5th gen in use by others in the household and they seem perfectly happy with what they have. Well, the 5-yr old Pro 9.7 is starting to show some weaknesses. It has issues handling 8-way video conferencing and some of the videos are blanked out.
