UPS Holidays

In China, today is the first day of the week of celebrations for National Day (Oct 1-7). This is a very important holiday in China and businesses are legally required to allow employees to take the holiday off.

However, Foxconn has historically allowed its employees to work through the holiday and earn triple their normal pay, so I don't expect that iPhone production lines are shutting down completely.

As for UPS, someone posted this link of UPS's holiday schedule:

http://www.ups.com/content/cn/en/about/news/service_updates/20130924_national_holiday.html

This didn't seem to bode well for phones leaving during Oct 1-3. However, Zhengzhou Airport's website shows that the regular UPS (5X) flight 113 Zhengzhou-Incheon is still scheduled for takeoff today at 4:40 PM. This could be an indication that Apple has made special arrangements with UPS China to keep operations running through the holiday.

iPhone 5s, 32 GB, Space Gray (GSM)
Order: 9/20
Confirmation: 3:09 AM (EST)

7-10 business days
October 8-11 by Standard Shipping

So here is the update on my order. Currently, on its way to Louisville, KY. Most likely on the UPS 109 flight. A little more than three hours until the landing.

I see several posters on the same flight as me, too.

---

EDIT: I see others are saying that the phones might be on the UPS 99 flight instead. My times are not really matching, so I'm not quite sure now. However, on my UPS tracking, I still have tomorrow 10/1, at the end of the day, as my schedule delivery.

My phone was shipped today, but it is on a holding pattern at the Zheng Zhou facility. Furthermore, UPS says delivery is scheduled for Friday 10/4, which is far too long if it ships tomorrow. So I suspect that UPS China is truly closed for business.

If I'm wrong, I'll be very happy.

I think you are right. Mine is definitely still on UPS99 because of the scan times. I'm not sure whey they would deplane all of the phones and move them to another plane (one that originated in Japan also).

Yep, UPS99 has our iPhones. It's a little behind schedule, but hopefully that won't cause any delays.

Actually, if your phone was shipped today, a Friday scheduled delivery date is normal. Take a look at this shipping info (attached). This phone entered the system on a Monday, and shipped on a Tuesday flight (keep in mind it's Tuesday in China now, so your phone might ship tomorrow). Originally its delivery was scheduled for Friday, but once it left Louisville, it was pushed up to Thursday.

Would you mind posting your tracking info? It would help with keeping tabs on UPS's operations during the holiday. It actually might help to confirm that UPS is running Apple's operations through the holiday (it's already the morning of Oct 1 now).

I waved at my phone as it flew over Whitehorse earlier this afternoon. Now it has to get all the way back to me from Kentucky:D

Yup, a large number of our phones are on UPS99 currently over British Columbia. I think it should be okay even though the flight is a little late. I remember watching a video somewhere about Worldport and I seem to recall most packages only spend about 15 minutes in the system there. UPS has more gates at that place than any commercial airline. Our phones will be unloaded from UPS99 and reloaded on to all of our respective planes in no time!

I mean today as in 9/30. It missed that flight by 2 hours.

Ok I see. Well, UPS shows tracking times in local time, so your phone entered the system about 27 hours ago on a Monday.

The big question is whether your phone will be shipped in about 7 hours on the Tuesday 4:40 PM flight UPS 113 (provided UPS is running through the holiday). That's exactly what my phone did, as I showed in my earlier post; it entered the system on Monday morning and left on Tuesday afternoon (China times).

Just checked in on my Silver 64GB TMO contract free 5S, ordered 8:40am on 9/20...

Also, do phones destined for Canada go through Alaska and the lower 48?

Yes. Clear US customs in Anchorage before next leg to Louisville. Then to Canadian hubs in Vancouver, Calgary, Winnipeg, Montreal, Hamilton and Toronto for the next leg of the journey.

Ordered AT&T 32GB Silver
Confirmed 7:37am PST via Apple Store App
7-10 business days, delivers Oct 7-10
Processing still....

I'm in the same boat, but i ordered 12:09AM launch day when the store came up. Still processing... its frustrating to see people in this thread who ordered after me say they are getting their phone this week yet i'm still waiting....

Did I read earlier that everyone is getting upgraded shipping even if you didn't pay for it or call in and ask for it?

Mine has is going UPS Worldwide Express which I understand is fastest. Since it changed to "shipped" it changed from estimated delivery of Oct 10-16 to Oct 2 at noon. This is for Calgary, Canada. I took default shipping method. It's been in the UPS system since 9/28.

I ordered my 64 GB Grey, unlocked at 12:05 PT on launch day.

I know of some who contacted Apple and got refund for the shipping upgrade they paid for.

32gb space gray ATT just TODAY went from processing to preparing for shipment. How long after that should I expect for it to actually ship?

I'm still waiting! My shipping estimate has been moved forward twice and I have a new pending charge from Apple... Now I think they're just playing with me. I tried looking for a store pickup but apparently there aren't any 32g AT&T space greys in the RDU area :/

EDIT: I'm still in PROCESSING limbo

This is my tracking info for 64 GB Grey (unlocked), completed at 12:05 PT on launch day, shipping to Calgary, AB, Canada. We have two Apple Stores in Calgary, but I don't do lineups and they don't accept Apple Financial Credit (online orders for 3 month no interest financing for orders over $750).

From what I understand, there has been limited stock in Calgary since release anyhow.

I got 7-10 day estimate right from the start and was told I'd see it Oct 10-17 after a few changes to the ETA (kept getting later and later). Been in "Shipped" Mode since 9/28.

Shipping info is below. It's on one of six flights that left Anchorage to Louisville tonight (all in the air but are all touching down soon). Expected in Calgary by noon on Wed.
