I always see people getting OS 9 and OS X on unsupported macs. Does anyone know if the same could be done with 7.6.1? I've never tried but I would think such a system would scream on RevA-D iMacs and beige G3 machines. Just to see it happen at all would be a fun exercise. Beyond the New World ROM I can't think of any major issues that couldn't be solved with some extension transplants. Has anybody every tried this?

It should be possible on some machines. In his great YouTube action channel ActionRetro, Sean has a UMAX Mac clone that originally runs System 7 but he upgrades with a Sonnet G3 or even G4 (I think). So it could work? Though I suspect more likely on older machines with CPU upgrades, than in newer machines with hacked older OS installs?

I heard that 7.6.1 may be possible on some very early Rev. A beige G3’s but I don’t know if anyone has successfully done this, so consider this a rumor.
