I disagree; I think the "flick to the right" feeling is so ingrained in iPhone users that it's natural to flick the screen to the right to unlock it now. I have never hesitated in unlocking my phone with iOS7; it feels as natural as the slider did. I think that making it flick the other way would be unnecessarily confusing to most.
The new unlocker being active on the whole screen pretty much and needing much less of a slide to unlock is already starting to cause accidental unlocks as it is it seems, having it be able to unlock in more directions would only make it worse. There's a reason it's locked and it shouldn't be so easy to unlock it with almost any movement--the way it was in previous iOS versions and on most (default) Android versions, where the area used to unlock is limited and specific direction and length of slide is used is really the better way to go.You know, it would be nice if the unlock slider was either direction!
Same for killing Safari tabs, either direction..
I've barely used a a iOS device always Android devices where i could unlock my phone by swiping in any direction and i always swipe to the right i think it's just natural for a right handed person.

That could be; I did the same thing on my Nexus 4 (always slid to the right). It does seem like it would be more functional to allow it to slide in either direction. One thing that I've done a few times is try to activate the control center too close to the right and brought up the camera by mistake instead; that's a little annoying but something I can easily adapt to give time.
I agree, or even better allow people to customise how to unlock the lockscreen, but Apple would never allow that.
