Hey guys,

Recently upgraded from a 6s Plus to a 7 Plus, and I've noticed a dramatic difference in scroll lag/choppiness, and choppiness when exiting an app back to the home screen. Is anyone else noticing this, or know of a way to fix it? My 6s Plus was buttery smooth in every app, so this is very strange.

Specifically having issues with Tweetbot, Messages, Settings, App Store, Safari (sometimes). I just did another factory reset and reloaded from by backup, but it's still just about the same. I've heard theories about the phone indexing and that making things choppy, but I doubt it takes 24+ hours to index. I've turned it off for an extended period of time, done hard resets, uninstalled/reinstalled apps, etc... with nothing having an effect.

What do you guys think? Thanks!!

It's not just you. It's systemic. My 7 Plus runs ok. It's so called the "fastest" smartphone but it feels slower then my 6s Plus. Idk if it's due the the A10 fusion using the low power cores causing all these animation issues/app crashes. I've tried everything. It's Apples crappy optimization, or lack thereof.

I have none of the issues you speak of maybe your devices are defective. If anything my 7plus is a beast and flies. Also the battery life is insanely good. I'm coming from an iPhone 6 and that was a fast phone but my 7plus is almost ridiculously fast.

Do you store your photos on your device and if you do, have they finished downloading? Mine was slow when I initially got it, but I realized one night a few days after I got it that my photos were still downloading to my device. I just tested Tweetbot and settings and I don't notice any issues.

Whatever you say but I notice lag and choppiness it drives me crazy and my 7plus really has none of these issues. I'm not denying you have this problem but my device has been perfect so far and my iPhone 6 the lag and choppiness drove me nuts at times but on the whole it was fairly smooth. I'm super impressed with the speed and fluidness of the UI. If anything the only thing that may be a small stutter is opening the multitasking menu but it's really not an issue and doesn't happen every time. Hope you resolve your issues with the device

Fair enough. Some people don't see it, others only a little. Unfortunately I have a keen attention to detail. I notice EVERY little hiccup or frame rate drop throughout the entire OS. As someone who has used iPhones since iOS 3, I can tell you for certain that Apple has taken a turn for the worse as far as overall smoothness goes. Idk if it's all the cute animations or transparencies, but watching the "fastest" smartphone on the planet struggle to open up multitasking or go in and out of apps is quite annoying.

Tweetbot didn't lag on the 7 Plus until the update which they said offers 'improved scrolling performance' - in reality, it's had the opposite effect.

I notice it big time. Mostly in Spotify after having it suspended in the background for some time.

Apples response is to restore iPhone as new without restoring from iCloud. **** that. That means I lose all my app data, including all my Apple Watch activity and health data. What's the point? I'll just deal with the abysmal battery life and choppy interface on my iPhone 7 Plus.

How bad is your battery life? Mine is great on the 7.

I expect some 3rd party apps to be iffy at first until they get their bugs worked out.

update to 10.1

Please do not listen to this. Maybe when 10.1 goes public, this will be true but it's not even remotely true right now.

Exactly numbers I couldn't give you. But days like today I'm barely using my phone and my battery is less than half after a few hours of light use.

If I am not seeing it and you are, than it means it's not there for me.

There's a difference between you not seeing it and it not being there. Don't confuse the two. Just because you don't see it...doesn't mean it is not there... just means you don't notice it.

I am not going to argue this with you. I am not experiencing any issues. IT IS NOT THERE.

Good luck.

I'm not arguing I'm simply stating that you don't see it, great. It's still there either way lol

The micro-stuttering isn't limited to the 7 Plus. I have it on my 7. I've reported it to Apple, and anyone experiencing it should do the same. The more people that bring this to Apple's attention, the more likely it will be addressed sooner.

You are. You are saying I have a problem that is not there simply because you have it. It does not work that way. These are electronic devices and some may have a problem that another won't have. I have OCD too.
I have paid a lot of money for this phone and looked it over very well. When my family gets their back ordered 7+, I will look them over too.

I haven't experienced any lag or stuttering on my 7+. I'm coming from a 6+ which I've experienced lag just by scrolling through settings and messaging. On my 7+ it has been smooth.

I change my phone every year. I am not seeing any choppiness in the iPhone 7+, coming from an iPhone 6S+. But I also do not see a whole lot of difference from the previous phone other than the fact my memory is doubled from 16GB to 32 GB. The only thing I hate about the new phone is the voice control screen that comes up when I press too much to unlock the phone. I am yet to adjust to the new home button. Anyone knows who to disable the voice control screen?

I've been reporting since iOS 7 lol
