There's been quite a bit of heated debate about what's coming to the 2009 iPhone(s). Here's one thread we can check for everything when the smoke clears. So make your "for the record" claim - because we can't all be right. Obviously editing your post after something is confirmed voids your claims, I suggest an separate addendum post for updates.

I've listed most of the 2009 iPhone rumors I could find across the internet and in the forums, add any I forgot to your list.

Rumors I believe to be true:
32GB for $299
16GB for $199
Faster 3G (7.2Mbit/s dependent on network)
3.2-megapixel camera with auto-focus
Extra button for camera.
Battery indicator with % option.
Video-recording and editing capabilities
New non-chrome bezel
Volume controls on the earbuds
Integrated Nike+ Sensor
Built-in compass
Faster Processor
More RAM
Apple logo will be used for flash or video lighting.
Ear speaker moved to top edge
Rubber-ish back case
Wireless video downloads (WiFi only)
Front facing camera
iChat on iPhone
New iPhone and 3.0 in July
New notification method (More like Pre and android)
Steve Jobs at WWDC
Voice dialing (new feature for holding home button)

Rumors I believe to be false:
1.5 times the battery life of the current models
OLED screen
Built-in FM transmitter
Apple logo on back will glow
iPhone Mini
Beta 5 has all final features
Higher resolution screen (greater than 480x320)
True multitasking announced for developers at WWDC
Final 3.0 released at WWDC
New iPhone released at WWDC
New gesture section in home button area.
iPhone on any other U.S. Carrier (i.e. AT&T only)

Happens all the time.

General consensus is that what I say is true is false, so I'll say...

Sizes and prices are right, as is 3G. Better camera; don't know the pixelage/sensor. No extra button for the camera. The percent battery indicator is real. Video is a given. Bezel is probably true, given the manufacturer page. Possibly new earbuds, integrated Nike+, and compass (weird idea).

Better CPU and more RAM are a given; the logo will NOT LIGHT UP. Ear speaker depends on legitimacy of the bezel seen... RUBBER?! Don't think so.

Video... maybe. Front-facing camera, no (WHY?! What's the point?!). iChat as a text (audio? :p) client, no video.

Why did you even PUT "new iPhone"?!

We might see TRUE backgrounding on the newest iPhone only, no Steve at WWDC. Oh, and PLEASE VOICE DIALING.

I'm with you on the battery, OLED, FM (SERIOUSLY?!), glowyness, iPhone nano (give it up and buy a dumbphone from someone else), higher resolution screen (App Store invalidates it), gesture selection, and non-exclusivity.

Yes.
Extra button for camera.
Probably not, but we'll see.
Battery indicator with % option.
Video-recording and editing capabilities
New non-chrome bezel
Volume controls on the earbuds
Yes.
Integrated Nike+ Sensor
Probably not, since the current phone is capable of this, but Apple didn't include it.
Built-in compass
Faster Processor
More RAM
given.
Apple logo will be used for flash or video lighting.
We'll see.
Ear speaker moved to top edge
Maybe for a front facing camera? I don't think that's likely, but maybe it will be Apple's killer feature that they'll advertise left and right.
Rubber-ish back case
Nope. Just matte.
Wireless video downloads (WiFi only)
Mayhaps, I don't see it happening for movies, but maybe music videos.
Front facing camera
iChat on iPhone
I don't see it happening, but hopefully. I'd love to get rid of Beejive for something killer like iChat with video conferencing.
New iPhone and 3.0 in July
Yeah.
New notification method (More like Pre and android)
Nope :( which sucks, because the way they currently do it is HORRIBLE.
Steve Jobs at WWDC
He'll either be there as a triumphant return, or he won't be as Apple's trying to phase Steve out.
Voice dialing (new feature for holding home button)
No, that button gets too much use, it'd just get confusing to invoke so many different things based on the pattern of home button presses.

Rumors I believe to be false:
1.5 times the battery life of the current models
OLED screen
Built-in FM transmitter
False, probs.
Apple logo on back will glow
It would be a smart place to put a flash
iPhone Mini
Beta 5 has all final features
Higher resolution screen (greater than 480x320)
True multitasking announced for developers at WWDC
Final 3.0 released at WWDC
New iPhone released at WWDC
New gesture section in home button area.
iPhone on any other U.S. Carrier (i.e. AT&T only)
False, which is too bad since I really want 3.0 soon, Apple dropped the ball on multitasking, and a higher resolution screen would just screw with the app store.
General consensus is that what I say is true is false, so I'll say...
Always true. I have yet to be wrong about you being dead wrong.

No extra button for the camera.
Sadly :(

the logo will NOT LIGHT UP.
I think it will just be the flash for the camera and a light for flashlight apps.

Video... maybe.
Probably, I see Apple marketing this as the ultimate media iPod.
Front-facing camera, no (WHY?! What's the point?!).
Probably not in this iteration, and if it is included Apple will act like they invented mobile video chat and it will be considered a mindblowing feature.

iChat as a text (audio? :p) client, no video.
I agree, but we'll see.

We might see TRUE backgrounding on the newest iPhone only
Hopefully that dock will start acting like the OS X dock and contain all running applications.
no Steve at WWDC.
Why? that lines up with every bit of info we have.

Oh, and PLEASE VOICE DIALING.
There are already a lot of apps that accomplish this very well. I can only see it happening if Apple adds another button. (hopefully they add the blackberry alert LED, although I'm sure that will never happen. A boy can dream!)

Except for Schiller doing the keynote.
haha oops I completely over looked that bit of info. I do think it's unlikely that Steve will be giving the keynote, as Apple should be trying to phase him out so it's not so much of a shock when he's gone, but I don't think it's much of a stretch to think he'll at least say a little something at the keynote.

I'm surprised people believe that there will be a faster 3G, I just don't see it happening.

That's the whole point of the thread. Not to debate about the next iPhone, but to take claim of your predictions.

Some of us think certain predictions are outrageous, and here's the one stop to check who believed what. So "put your reputation where your mouth is." We'll all know after the smoke clears.

We know your view on faster 3G = false. Later we can see if you were right or I was right. Any thoughts on the other rumors?

Here's my take on these rumors/speculation about the next generation iPhone...

-WiFi downloads
-New/more colors
-1.5x the battery life

-updated speakers for louder, higher quality sound
-compass

Rumors I'm not so sure about:
-extra button for camera
-glowing Apple logo
-speaker on face of the iPhone being moved to the top of the edge
-new notification method (probably as a 3.x update)
-Jobs announcing product
-thinner/more tapered design

I'm surprised people believe that there will be a faster 3G, I just don't see it happening.

AT&T already announced it. either way its gonna happen, maybe only the new one will have faster 3G but no matter what its gonna be there.

http://www.engadget.com/2009/04/20/atandt-likely-skipping-14-4mbps-moving-straight-to-hspa/

While it puts the finishing touches on its nascent 7.2Mbps upgrades and starts certifying devices to use it, AT&T has revealed a juicy tidbit: that's probably the end of the line for old-guard HSPA on the country's largest GSM network. Before LTE, though, AT&T plans on upgrading to HSPA+ which should bring 21Mbps speeds out of the gate; straight-up HSPA is theoretically capable of moving to 14.4Mbps, but AT&T says that it's had technical difficulties in maxing it out and HSPA+ equipment is now ready for implementation anyhow. Simultaneously, the company says it's adding additional carriers at cells on a case-by-case basis to help with white-hot demand and is upgrading its backhaul network to handle the blazing speeds promised by the newer standards. We'll see.

Rumors I'm not so sure about:

-Verizon iPhone

I hope your joking right? verizon will not get the iphone until AT&T upgrades to LTE. why? because it would be stupid for apple to make a CDMA iphone that they can only sell in the US... the only way that would happen is if they could also sell it somewhere else. but i think china is the only other place in the world that uses CDMA. and the china market isnt big enough to support a redesigned iphone. even if you add verizon in, there isnt enough of a customer base. plus verizon likes there own firmwares and what not. the iphone is to open source for verizon. ex. Itunes store. verizon has its own music store so this would take money away from them. overall it is not cost effective for apple to build and manufacture another iphone that they cant sell anywhere else but 2 countries.

I dunno... Scott Bourne on MBW seemed pretty sure it would happen. He has a source too.

I think it's as silly as you, but it is possible.

Also: I'm going to bookmark this thread, and after WWDC I think we should tally up our scores on what we were right and wrong about. The winner gets icecream!

We all know we disagree on what's coming out... There are plenty of thread dedicated to each individual rumor to continue the debate.

The only point of this thread is so that when Verizon does/doesn't get the iPhone or the new iPhone has/doesn't have faster 3G, we can have a place to say "Told you so!"

But there's no need to debate it here... We'll all find out soon enough.
