Here is my take on the iPhone X after 72 hours with it. To preface, I have owned every iPhone, except for the 8. I once tried a Note for a few months, but I greatly prefer iOS, so I haven’t strayed since.

I love a substantial design change, so I was very intrigued by the X. The design of the last several generations has served me well, but the X’s changes had me very excited, more than any other jump in the past. Even more than the infamous 4 and all the drama with the leak.

SIZE: Coming from a Plus size, I enjoy the smaller form factor, thanks to the larger screen on the X.

SCREEN: Gorgeous OLED display, especially with HDR videos. Colors pop, blacks are well done and it is clearly brighter. Make sure to check out “The HDR Channel” on YouTube to melt your face. The “edge-to-edge” display explodes into every corner, and is easily my favorite feature. True Tone was slightly warm for my tastes, but a quick adjustment in Color Filters made for perfection.

NOTCH:
I rather enjoy it. Having data like time/battery etc. in those locations is brilliant, along with using those areas as tabs to pull down for control center and notifications. Very well done. It was an eye catcher at first, but now I don’t even notice it. Apps and video that fill the screen are immersive, and the data lost from the crop on some videos is worth it.

FACE ID:
Awesome. Animojis are a bit gimmicky, but they serve to show the power of the facial recognition, and I can’t wait to see what comes. I haven’t had a single issue with unlocking not working immediately. LOVE how my notifications are hidden until I give the phone my attention. 100% success with contacts, glasses and several sunglasses.

NO HOME: After 9 years of muscle memory, I am quickly adjusting to the lack of a home button. Initially I kept wanting to press a phantom button, but as I get used to the new gestures to compensate, it feels really good.

CHARGING: Oh how I love wireless charging! Sure, it’s not new, in general, but it’s new to the iPhone. I have a nice wireless charging stand on my desk, to keep it upright so I can see notifications while charging. I can set it and remove at will, no ugly cables or dock with a finicky lightning plug to deal with. No more low battery issues at the office! As far as battery life, I can't really say yet. Between easier charging with wireless, and that "new car" feeling that has me playing with the X way more than normal, I'll need more time.

CAMERA: Much better. I haven't played with the new portrait lighting, but I take many high light product shots with my phone, and the X handles auto white balance MUCH better. I also use it for my YouTube reviews, and the ones I have shot so far look more crisp. I'm no expert, but for my usage, the X has improvements that I can easily see, so I'm impressed.

COSMETIC: The phone is beautiful. The glass panel over silver back is sexy, and paired with the stainless steel band around the edge is aesthetically my favorite of all time. I am a case/screen protector fanatic, and the iPhone X is the first model I have chosen to use a crystal clear case so that I don’t hide it’s beauty.

In the end, I am very satisfied with my decision to get the iPhone X. Other devices may have had similar features long before the X, but nothing compares to iOS.

Nice summary, and thank you for your thoughts. I'll offer mine too if you don't mind, using the same format.

Size - I love it. Been using large phones for so long, it's nice to hold something more compact. I feel the pinch when doing productivity (i.e. Outlook, VNC, etc), but I do like it overall.

Screen - A beauty.

Notch - Honestly, I don't notice it

FaceID - My least favorite. I miss TouchID. FaceID is cool, it works mostly, but I miss how quick TouchID is

No Home - Not an issue at all for me. Swipe up, is intuitive

Charging - Wireless charging is obv great. Having to buy another brick, and overpriced cable for fast charging is criminal though. It should've been included.

Camera - I think we all know how great it is. The Pixel 2 is the only one in the same league IMO.

Cosmetic - I go back and forth hourly between the iPhone X vs the Note 8 for sexiest smartphone. They're both stunners

I'm pretty sure I'm keeping mine too. I really enjoy the device. I just hate the feeling of dropping a G to be a beta tester of FaceID, when I know the 8+ works as I've grown to expect over many years...with more horizontal screen real estate. I'm glad we have options!!

Can 3rd parties develop apps for animation using the 3D sensors, or is that locked down?

Returned my X today. It’s nice phone. But I prefer the iPhone 8
Plus that i used for 13 days before.

I paid full price for both phones and returned them both. Rocking a $150 IPhone SE as backup phone now on att.

Going to head to sams club for $250 gift card deal this Saturday. If they got the X. I will get it. If they don’t have the X. I
Will get the iPhone 8
Plus again

Regardless. I ain’t paying full price for any phone again. I want a deal. And $250
Gift card is a pretty good deal. I be happy with either of the phones. But I’m not intent on paying full msrp. I will just pay off the installment immediately.

That’s how u gotta to play the game with the post paid carriers these days.

I picked up a $120 lg g5 back in March on installment as well and immediately paid it off

I’ve had the iPhone X since Friday, love it!
Sadly YouTube for iOS doesn’t support HDR, yet, tho. :(

It’s probably the best looking phone I’ve ever seen. This is the first phone I’ve found myself having a hard time putting down.

Screen is fantastic, feels good in the hand, gestures so smooth, this is the future of smartphones.

I'm the same ... I just love touching it and using it ... yes .. "smooth" is what it is, for sure. Just love it so much!
