Does anyone know what 7200RPM 320GB drive Apple puts in the stock machines? Is it a Seagate 7200.3 or something else...

It was said above in the thread -- they use Hitachi as the OEM drive.

I replaced my stock drive (now in an external enclosure) with a WD Scorpio Black. There is no appreciable difference in heat or vibration. If you have an odd vibration, I would take the drive out and re-seat it. Sometimes just a bit tighter or a bit looser with the screws can make a difference.

Upgraded my MBP with a 7200.3 320gb and it's been cool, quiet and of course very fast. I wish SSD's had the capacity and the price (or at least close) but IMHO you can't beat these drives for $100 bucks (give or take). :)

Do Apple stores sell that model?

Are the Apple Stores selling that model?

The 7200rpm drive is whisper-quiet, very fast, and I still get 4-5 hours battery life. It also generates less heat than the 5400rpm drive.
