Wrong, guys!
Yellowsn0w is the famous unlock that was released on 1st Jan this year and allowed the iPhone 3G to be used with any sim on any network.
It was written by Dev Team and worked on jailbroken iPhone 3G (not 3GS) running firmware 2.2.
Redsn0w was their jailbreak for the second generation iPod Touch.
This is most likely REAL and I'm guessing that Dev Team has figured out how to unlock the an iPhone 3G (not 3GS) running firmware 3.0.

Let me see, in 36 hours, I can have the 3.0 update free from the multi-billion dollar corporation the wrote it....or I can have it now from a website I never heard of.

Wow. They're not offering the 3.0 firmware. It's the UNLOCK for the 3G.
And it's real. Have you checked the Dev Team's blog?
Obviously not.
This might be a dumb question -- but does this mean they've figured out how to unlock iPhone 3G with 2.30.03 modem firmware?
My guess is that they skipped the firmware all together, just update to 3.0 and you should be fine (;
Dev Team's blog (now and many other times) has repeatedly urged users to place limited trust on any web site beside their own... so why be snarky when people do exactly that?
Sounds like great news. I wonder if they're anywhere with Pwnage tool being able to unlock the 3G iPhone and jailbreak the iPod Touch 2nd Gen as well as the other products? Or if any of the minor limitations or issues with yellowsn0w have gotten any better?
Because http://ihazsupper.com is owned by the Dev Team? Do you not remember the whole Geohot and Dev Team fiasco?
That combined with MuscleNerd's many hints at a 3.0 unlock on his Twitter account.
My assumptions were not blind. It was obvious it was real.
I was wondering that too. So, I can update to 3.0 software on my 3G and jailbreak/unlock it without having to worry about baseband/bootloader or anything?
Not with the 2.30.03 baseband firmware. 3.0's baseband.
This will be a 3G unlock for firmware 3.0.
