To enable MMS on your account you need the updated IPCC files for AT&T and a non iphone messaging plan. You will also need to have a feature removed from your account called Message Waiting Indicator. This feature is what enables us to receive a text with the viewmymessage.com link. With this removed you will receive the MMS as a picture.

I finally figured out what feature AT&T needed to remove to get my MMS working!!! Hope this helps everyone!!!:D

My ATT rep said only Michigan (my state) and people from Indiana are SOL because of the towers, and that all the other states are actually good to go right now.

Yea, so I have to change message plans and have them remove all of this?

Or will they eventually do this for everyone anyway?

(I am in no hurry for it.)

i called they removed it but i dont think its what i needed to to do... he said something about the icons on the top of the screen

Is it just me or is it absolutely ridiculous that hacks prove the ability for fully functioning MMS on AT&T iPhones, yet AT&T is making us wait until the end of summer?

Even if they have to go and enable it for each user manually (which is also pretty insane), why not just give it to the ones that call? They obviously want it most...

thats what is so insane about it. end users can enable features in 5 minutes if one csr cooperates and they wont give it to us

they said they removed it... i cant send messages have to see if i get them

edit

cant receive them either

I got MMS enabled without speaking to anybody over the phone.

You can check my post here

or basically just follow these instructions

... lets see its been about 15 mintues

i gave up....just call att in a couple days and tell them your u left your iphone home and u wanna use a new phone and you want to change your plan....

Call them from that other phone, and tell them you want to be able to use MMS on that phone. Say you've done it in the past, and all they did was switch you to a normal messaging plan. Chances are they'll be more then happy to help you out.

Granted, I have a normal texting plan and it still refuses to work, so it's definitely not a guaranteed way to get MMS on your phone.

They are probably adding additional network capacity to handle the additional traffic.

I hate that excuse.

1) They have had plenty of time and notice.

2) They sell us UNLIMITED (fine print cap) data. They can handle data but not data (MMS)?

3) The ever so obvious, every phone with AT&T for years has been able to MMS.

It's frustrating how incompetent they are. Must be frustrating to apple for the largest iphone market in the world to not have 2 awesome features. (Apple takes some blame of course for taking 2 years to make the phone capable.

Did you enable Media Net?

Like I said in the other thread - I tried this and it didn't work.

Did you type in your phone # into the media net website and receive a confirmation code via txt to activate media net on your account?

I did both as an added measure. That could be what's holding you back

The message waiting indicator is what tells you how many messages you have. It has nothing to do with MMS working. There is no way to remove MWI because it is not a removable feature.

Nothing needs to be removed to get MMS working. What needs to happen is to have AT&T provision your account for MMS.

I don't know about the MWI removal. That's just the voicemail indicator on regular phones. Doesn't have anything to do w/ MMS.
