I signed up for Google Voice invites about a week ago with 6 different email addresses that I have. I ended up getting invited with my main email address on Monday. Well, today, I have received invites at several of the other email addresses. Looks like Google is really starting to push it a bit more. Was this planned or is Google perhaps trying to get the service in more people's hands so that more people complain and put more pressure on Apple regarding the recent App Store debacle?

I have been looking through available numbers and contemplating but I want to use my existing number. I've had my number for about 8 years and not interested in changing. I remember reading that Google was going to work on that option.

Wonder if signing up now will put you first in line to port over your own number in the future and replace what you pick now?

I got my invite 2 days ago, so far, the sms has been working great so far. However, I received many drop calls and .5-1 sec delayed calls (I tested it out with my dad which was only couples of feet away.) Anyone got this problem?

I think this is a good start for Google Voice and hope it improves it's service in the future. I'm also happy that google provides me a free business card with my name and # with google design for free.

I've had grandcentral since before google bought it. Back then you could upload an MP3 as a ringback tone, but google removed that for copyright reasons I'd think. I signed up with the same email 3 times and already got (and gave away) 2 of them.

how long did it take everyone to get their invite?
i just signed up for one today and i was wondering how long itd take to get mine. :)

Why do you want to use your existing number? What do you plan to use GV for?

Thank you OP. I did not see my invite until I did a search in my email, received my invite on the 29th. :D

Could somebody please explain to me why people are buying invites when they are being given out for free? I signed up maybe a week or so ago and I received an invite already.

Because 2 weeks ago this wasn't the case. And news still spreads slow to suckers.
