Do you have the SSD in the optical bay or the the HDD slot?

Still have it in the regular HD bay. I have an optibay waiting to be loaded, I'll put my 500GB in there. But I'm gonna wait till I can upgrade to SL first since I'll need the DVD for that... :)

I did manage to find a SATA to USB converter so I can use the SuperDrive externally, but I'm not getting that till next week.

I just bought a MacBook Air SuperDrive from ebay for $30 CAD, shipped. It is broken because the cable is 'cut'. If you are handy, there are a few more up on ebay. At least it is tiny...and pretty.

I don't really (personally) see the value in getting one of these X25-M's, my crucial M225s performance is similar, yet costs £160 less. Am I missing something?

Similar.

I'm very happy with my 160GB X25 thank you. At $430 & the Intel warranty, it was well worth it in my eyes. We'll see in two years.;)

first the video was awful

now that it is much nicer

the music is terrible :D

so sad, reminds me the funeral of my squirrel when i was 6 :p

LOL :D

just installed my new X25 with my MBP13 EFI 1.7

it works just fine :)

i expected it to be much much faster, but it's ok

i'll probably find it faster by using it a bit longer

edit:

found the origin of the slow performance: SL upgrade from Leopard

i just formatted my SSD and did a clean install

now i have released the beast :)

MBP 13 2.26 with 4 Gb of ram and SSD X25 postville 80 Gb under SL: boot time = 15 seconds !!!!!! :) :) :) :)

clean install is definitely mandatory

Yeah I noticed the speedy boot with the Intel gen2 and Sl also.

It's getting sick. :D

It also shuts down pretty quick now too.

Most of the people with slower boot times with the X25-m are due to the presence of other non-SSD hard drives (since they have to spin up during boot as well). Another item that reduced performace is if your home folder is on a secondary rotational drive (again because that has to spin up during boot).

This is why you will see some SSD MacBooks have faster boot times than SSD Mac Pros.
