I really haven't checked the health of my battery in awhile and i was shocked that the battery only held 83% of it's max capacity, only 8 months after I bougth the computer. I've noticed lately that my computer doesnt last as long as before.

Both iStat and Coconut reports 83% battery health (4602 mAh of 5500 on max capacity)
I'm on my 160th cycle now, which should be normal since I use my computer daily.

As far as I remember my Powerbook G4 was on aprox 85% after almost two years of use, and now i'm scared that my MBP shouldn't even last a university lecture in a few months..

Is this normal or should I try get a replacement from apple?

Thanks in advance

Have you tried calibrating the battery? It's not only good for the battery itself, but it'll make the measurements within the OS more accurate.

176 cycles, 86%

it doesn't matter how old it is, more how many times it has been charged.

the OP's battery is actually doing better than the second poster

Agreed, mine dropped to 62%, but after I calibrated I'm back up to 89%. If you calibrate every 2-4 weeks, you will get much more life out of your battery.
