Hey guys, so I just got a baseline 13" MBP. I like to run windows and ubuntu in a vm but even running Windows 8 with 1gbs of ram makes my system very laggy. The CPU usage will be 80% idle but ram pages out to like 2gbs pretty fast. And thats with just one vm. So should i upgrade to 8 or 16? I'll mostly be playing casual games, photoshop, imovie, spotify, or browsing in OS X while the VM's run.

Maybe give VM like 2~3GB of RAM?
But 8GB will pretty much suit you enough.

If you tend to do more heavy stuff on your VM, get 16GB.
It can run on baseline 13in 2011.

8GB should be fine, be sure you know how much RAM your OS running in VM can utilize for instance i think 32 bit versions of windows only utlizie 4GB
