8+ or 7+?

I currently have the iPhone 6 (non plus) and it's dying a slow death and i'm ready to upgrade. I'm not interested in the X because of the price. I'm torn between the 8+ and the 7+.... on one hand I like the idea of having the newest version out there.... on the other hand, I like the idea of saving some money (I'm thinking of picking up the watch too).

Will I regret the 7+ because it'll fall behind in performance sooner than the 8+?

I care mostly about the camera (are they much different) and how fast the phone is.

What do you think??

If you’re the kind of person who likes to keep a phone for years, I’d say go all out. The 8+ is a generation ahead in processing power and has a better camera.

I have an X now and still think my 7+ is awesome. Only reason I see to get the 8 is wireless charging

I agree with the above. If you keep you phones I’d get the 8 plus. It would serve you for a bit.

You can get a 7+ 128GB for about $500. An 8+ 64GB costs $800. To me, 8+ is not worth the $300 over 7+, but thats just me.

You already know the form factor is on its way out. Spending $799 doesn't make sense on an oldie, especially when 7 Plus already has 3GB of RAM.

Both are great phones, I upgraded from a 7+ to an 8+.

Almost every year I make my mom a calendar of all our dogs for Christmas, over the years and through the calendars you can literally -see- the photos improve and become sharper and better as I upgraded my phone every year. I think it’s worth it simply to be able to capture the best memories and photos.

Form factor will dictate the design of future versions of iOS.

Menus on iOS 9 looked terrible on iPhone 4s because many elements were designed for taller displays found in iPhone 5 and newer. iPhone X is a similar change in form factor.

IPhone 7 Plus and 8+ are highly similar, with the exception wireless charging, True tone, upgraded camera, etc to the iPhone 8.

My suggestion is purchase the iPhone 7 Plus, which will save you some money and allow you to purchase the Apple Watch that you have been thinking of as well.

That is some sensible advice there.
8+ virtually offers you nothing meaningful over the 7+. True tone in a phone is nothing like true tone on ipad, so no real value there.
You'd be surprised how well the Apple watch complements the phone.
