Ya i know it sounds like your getting a bigger screen with the x, but really it's just longer than the plus screen, not as wide, 19.5.9 aspect ratio on the X vs 16.9 aspect ratio on the plus ( 16.9 is standard for recording and TV ). This is why you get pillar box on the X and nearly all new phones when watching video that was recorded in 16.9, this never made sense to me anyway, quality of X screen is superior though.

Am I allowed to answer? Not upgrading this year or maybe next. Not because I "hate the notch" or love the home button or whatever. I just want to get off the upgrade every two years (astonished at those who can upgrade every year unless they have some kind of upgrade plan) cycle.

I want to keep my 7 plus as long as I can, I'll even pay Apple full price for a battery change when the time comes.

Edit: typos arggg

I’ll be upgrading from my 8+ this year. I’m on a payment plan so if I’m paying monthly it may as well be the newest model.

I have an 8 plus myself and was wondering if there was others who are thinking of getting the new X not the plus sized, and think there will be any changes to this year's x, externally.

I’m pretty sure I’ll get this years 5.8 inch, whatever it’s gonna be called. As much as I love my 8+, I’m tired of the plus size phones. Worst case if I don’t like it I’ll sell it for a larger phone.

If it doesn't have a home button, I'm not buying it. My 8+/7+ may be my last iPhone purchase ever.

Honestly, it's not the home button that I would miss rather the fingerprint scanner.

For reasons that have been discussed here ad nauseum, I won't go into why.

But that's a deal breaker for me.

ya that's what my aim is as well, nearly all the reviewers said one thing, that the X was comfortable to use and that they felt it was the right size for mobile use, like you I'll get the new X and for home use thinking bout the new iPad pro/X

I have friends with the X and the few times I played around with them I like it. Same zoom as the 8+ camera and any less battery life is negligible, as I rarely go below 40% in my daily routine.

This is what most people are referring to. The aspect ratio is different on the X so for things like Video, you have much more viewing area on the Plus phones.

I dont really watch videoes on phone. if I cared, I'd use tv or tablet. Same as camera, a $600 model still does better job.

Watching videos on a phone is too small to be entertaining, it's for casual and information only.

I don't "see" the notch or that the aspect ratio isn't "perfect." Just not bfd.

I have a 7 Plus. I've messed around with my friends iPhone X and while I do like it, I can't help but think I'd prefer the screen to be even larger in a size I'm used to anyway. I had the 6 Plus, now the 7 Plus, and never really had an issue with the physical size so maximizing the screen in a size that clearly has worked for me for years seems ideal. I'm planning on getting the 6.5inch 'X style' iPhone this fall, whatever its name may be.

I tried the X for a few months but gave up on it. Even though the screen size is larger due to lack of home button and near bezel-less screen, it still felt "small" to me as I've been carrying a plus sized iPhone since they launched. Hopefully there will be enough improvements to make getting the X plus a no brainer for me but I'll probably get it anyway. The display on the X was gorgeous, but still not on-par with those Samsung uses on the Galaxy phones in my opinion, so hopefully there will be improvements there. And I still think the camera could use some work.

Although I see your point, differentiating between both of those screenshots on the iPhone X and iPhone Plus model, the colors are substantially more rich and vibrant on the iPhone X OLED dispay, which to me supersedes the ‘More dispay’ on the Plus Model iPhone.

I think the 'no home button' thing on the iPhone X is a non issue really.

I've been using the virtual home button (which provides SO many more different functions) on my iPhone 8 Plus and have never needed to press the physical home button on the phone. If people really miss the home button on the X, why don't they also use the virtual one as well?

If I decide to upgrade, unless something changes my mind, I’m continuing my status as a Plus user. I can’t let go of the screen real estate.

6 Plus -> 8 Plus -> XI Plus

Went from a 6+ to an 8+ and that was a very worthy upgrade. I’ll probably keep the 8+ as a backup and get the XS+ (or XI+) this year. Hope the speakers are just as good as my 8+ (I use them a lot) and hope they finally integrate stereo video recording this year...
