I have been using 8 plus with great battery life for a few days before I made a mistake of upgrading to 11.0.3. Now I see battery draining in front of my eyes even in low power mode. I am still within my return window until this coming weekend. Should I just return the phone, re-buy and hope it doesn't have new 11.0.3 installed? Just really at a loss on what to do.

How did you do the update? OTA or through iTunes?

I have an 8 Plus and am on 11.0.3. Right at this moment I'm at 92% battery with 8 hours 4 minutes of standby and 1 hour 49 minutes of usage. I don't think 11.0.3 is your problem.

Opt in for the public beta at beta dot apple dot com, backup your phone (just in case), and update to 11.1 beta 3.

That is odd, you would expect this going from 10.3.3 to 11.0 but a point update shouldn't make that much difference? I'm hoping by the time 11.1 comes around that battery life will be better across all devices.

Ok, thanks guys. I am going to return it and get another phone. I am not taking chances with a $1000 phone.

OTA. Does that make a difference?
Some say it does, others say it doesn’t. I updated my phone one time OTA and had all sorts of problems. Ever since I have done it through ITunes doing a clean install. iOS 11.0.3 is running great for me

I updated to 11.1 last night and battery seems a lot better this am.

Sorry for dumb question, but where do you guys see standby and usage statistics? When I go to battery in settings all I is "time since last full charge" at the bottom.

If you see the " - " on both, means you probably need to charge it full (or at least 90%) to get that numbers.

UPDATE: So I went to Apple Store last night and exchanged my phone. Transferred all my data last night. Took it off the charger this morning at 5 am. Did my usual radio streaming and Waze in the car for about 40 min, 1 hour of video streaming at the gym. At 8 am, I am down to 79%. WTF is going on? (this was not in low power mode).

P.S. Background refresh is turned off. Most location services set for "never".

A) Different phone...give it a few days to settle
B) Both GPS and streaming are notoriously terrible for your battery
C) It would also help when you’re complaining about battery to post a screenshot of your usage

More than happy with 8 Plus and 11.0.3

Umm, you realize Waze is a battery killer on any phone?

Facebook and Low signal strength will eat through your battery. Make sure you are on WiFi when you can be.
