I wasn't planning on using the 80% charging limit, but damn, the battery life is so much better than my 12 mini that I figured why not? It worked for the first week or so, but I think it stopped working when I upgraded to the 17.1 beta. It doesn't matter if I'm using an Apple charger or cable or a third party or if I'm connected to CarPlay – it happens everywhere.

Anyone else experiencing this behavior? Did I miss a thread somewhere? If it is happening to you, what version of iOS are you on?

It will occasionally charge up to 100% and also relies on Location Services. With fast charging, just top up and set a shortcut automation to alert you whenever it reach 80% to disconnect. I’m not relying on this feature but it’s a good backup in case I’m busy to look at notification.

For me it’s the other way around. I set it to optimized and it charged only to 80% this morning. I will have to recharge over the day so the phone doesn’t run dead. Really annoying.
