Ok I may have figured this out...
The DIR-655 outputs in 2.4 Ghz. To get the full N speed, you need to throw out a 5Ghz signal...

Apparently the DIR-855 will have dual band (2.4Ghz / 5.8Ghz) which will allow a full N speed (300 Mbps).
