My school's WiFi is the 802.11x. They have two different networks you can connect to, UGuest, or UConnect. UConnect is more desirable it is faster and it allows me to be constantly logged into their network, UGuest is super slow. My mac will be able to access the UGuest network, but for some reason it will not work with the UConnect. I know my username, and my password, but it keeps telling me that the connection failed, and I don't understand why. Do I need to buy something to make it compatible? I don't know much about my computer, but I would really like to use my internet. :(

Btw, are sure it is not called 802.1X? Mac OS X does support this standard since 10.3, maybe your AirPort card is not capable enough?
Take a look at System Profiler > Network > AirPort.
