Hi all,
has anyone had this problem? ever since i installed 10.6.2 sound has no longer worked on my computer. I've tried headphones and speakers but nothing. any idea what might have caused this/how to fix it?
thanks in advance..

heya, yeah the audio controls show up and can go up and down etc

i'm using a macbook 2.2ghz from early 2008

Go to the sound prefs and select your desired output.
Was messed up on my Mac Pro after the upgrade, too.

Aha! Yes, thanks. I thought I checked there. It seems to have set itself 'soundflower'

If you're having trouble with Sound Effects or iChat, check this out.

In the sound preferences of system preferences, under sound effects, where does it say "play sound effects through?" If it says internal speakers, then it will always play through there even if your output is selected as line out or USB speakers.

I found this in another thread and I thought I'd share. Thank you Southerndoc!

It screwed up the sound output settings on my Mac Pro, but not my Macbook Pro. Odd.

I changed the output in system preferences, but I still do not have sound from my speakers. What the heck is going on? On Mac Pro 3,1

Edit: Fixed it by unplugging the power source to the speakers and plugging it back in. I tried unplugging it from the back of the Mac first but did no good. Whatever, just glad it is working now.
