Apple today released a series of printer driver updates for Snow Leopard users, bringing additional support for printer and multifunction devices from Brother, Canon, HP, and Lexmark.

- Brother Printer Drivers for Mac OS X v10.6 (99.9 MB)
- Canon Printer Drivers for Mac OS X v10.6 (274.59 MB)
- HP Printer Drivers for Mac OS X v10.6 (387.44 MB)
- Lexmark Printer Drivers for Mac OS X v10.6 (117 MB)

Full information on Snow Leopard printer driver support is available on Apple's support document, which includes notations of models for which drivers have been recently added or updated.

I always end up using gutenprint drivers in SL. guess that's what I get for having a 7 year old printer still kickin' around.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_1_2 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/528.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile/7D11 Safari/528.16)

Yey, more printer drivers! I always love apple updating my drivers for me. Beats browsing manufactures websites for the new ones

The DeskJet 930c was fully supported in Leopard and now in SL it uses ugly Guten Print drivers. I don't know what changed so radically that they can't use the Leopard drivers in Snow Leopard as well.

I thought OS X's Window server had paper quality compositing. If so, shouldn't printers drivers all be tiny little programs that just copy the file through? (except for older non-PS/PDF printers)

And Apple still cannot properly support the Canon printer I purchased from an Apple store.
*sigh*

Check your driver has actually been updated - mine didn't at first :(

Software Update downloaded a delta update (about 8.5MB) but didn't actually update my Canon printer driver even though on the support KB it states my model has received an update.

I tried removing my printer, rebooting and re-adding, but it still used the old driver. Only when I manually downloaded and installed the full Canon printer update package did the new driver take

I have an HP P1505 mono LaserJet and the delta update worked for me. The full size update is like 384 MB so I wouldn't download it if your printer is now fully supported - mine is. Check first.

Rich

Just updated my HP drivers. Went from version 5.4 of the drivers to 16.1. That's a big sounding upgrade. I thought to myself "Will it go to work for me, too?" But, no. In previous driver updates for SL, the drivers maybe went from 5.3 to 5.4. But going from 5.4 to 16.1? Haven't seen too much of a difference yet.

I bought an HP CM1312 Printer and Scanner AFTER I purchased a Macbook Pro running Snow Leopard. I still cannot SCAN ! Thats ridiculous. I report back IF this updates finally fixes this issue.

Fantastic - it still doesn't work.

That means - 2 month after I purchase a brand new printer from HP it doesn't what it says on the box - scanning.

Printing is fine btw.

Know exactly what you mean, My 930c has been a solid and reliable printer for years and now with SL photo's print really bad.

Does the new SL printer update include a driver for the 930c? I pretty pissed about the poor photo quality with the Guten driver.

Question: My HP J6420 is set up as a WiFi printer and not connected to my MacBook. So far, I have never had printer drivers show up under Software Update.

Is this because of the WiFi or no updates for the printer? I'm downloading this one though.

It took Oki Data forever to release drivers for Leopard, so I'm not expecting Snow Leopard drivers until 2011. :(

After install I get a hpPlugInInit.kext not installed properly. Remove and reinstall or contact HP.

Not sure how I'm supposed to reinstall. It file deletes just fine but deleting the printer and then reinstalling it does not reinstall the hpPlugInInit.kext file.

Not sure what it is used for. I have a HP Color LaserJet 2605dn.

as usual, they're lagging behind with releasing updates for older epson printers.

Yes, considering this was meant to be a performance upgrade, Snow Leopard qualifies as the worst version of OSX so far.
Safari hangs every day, no printer drivers for my older printers and just yesterday i-Tunes started re-opening as soon as I quit
What a total POS:mad:

I was having a ton of problems with SL at first. Is this a fresh install or upgrade? Mine ended up being some input managers for Safari (ad blockers) that were causing all sorts of problems. Once they got cleaned up SL screams.

I have to comment.

1. Just because you're having issues doesn't mean that everybody is.
2. The fact that you typed "i-Tunes" with a hyphen speaks volumes about your knowledge and attention to detail that we can expect.

I'm sorry you're having such a lousy experience. My MacBook Pro started crashing hourly this week, so I'm not a happy camper at all. Really takes the wind of my sails (sales?) for Apple products when they are just as unreliable and fragile as Windows machines.
