First mention of an iPad was in 2001, right here at Macrumors. Decent specs list in 2003. Someone please post links to the first etch-a-sketch thread. I seem to remember it being earlier. If you study the screen tech though, it is more the inspiration for kindle e-ink than the LCD the iPad uses. 😉
