85w Magsafe 2 adapter: is duckhead and extension same as Magsafe 1?

I bought a 2015 MB Pro 15" to replace my 2012 MB Pro. I understand it's a new power adapter, Magsafe 2, but if I bought a backup, could I use the duckhead and extension cable from one of my previous Magsafe 1 adapters?
