If Macs did have blu-ray, would you honestly use it, or just fall to a sales tactic? Possible brag about it just because it is there?
Blu-ray is the one thing I miss from my old Sony Vaio, although if more BDs came with a digital copy I doubt I would be as fussed.
would you honestly use it
I couldn't care less about Blu-Ray. Until it becomes the standard and knocks DVD off the shelves it just looks like another failed attempt by Sony to bring a new format into the field.
Could be wrong, but then, sony have been wrong more times than I have![]()
Funny how Blu Ray seems to make more sense to Steve in his Disney role, how's this for irony:

Buying stuff on optical media still has the big benefit that you can't delete it, unlike a file on your hard drive. There've been plenty of posts on these forums saying 'I accidentally deleted a few of my films that I bought on iTunes, how can I get them back' to which nobody ever seemed to provide a good answer. An unwritable optical disc is as good as it gets for something that you will never want to delete. Yes, it's true that all of my CDs have been imported into iTunes, but if my hard drive ever dies all I need to do is get the discs out and reimport them. If I was to import my 200DVDs, estimating an average of 6GB per DVD then I would need over a terrabyte to store them all. Anyone know where I can get a 2TB internal drive for my MacBook Pro? And then we start to think about HD with uncompressed surround sound and suddenly Blu Rays doesn't look like a bad idea after all...
The big problem is that a lot of people just don't care about the visual upgrade.
Blu-ray is only really worth it if you have a huge HDTV with surround sound. VHS to DVD was a big step, DVD to Blu-Ray is a relatively minor one. I remember reading somewhere that the adoption rate for it is smaller than when DVDs were release.
I barley ever use my optical drive, only sometimes to watch Movie/TV DVDs.
