$270 price difference here in Australia and I don't really fuss much about camera phone, so it's a 12 non-Pro for me.
I'll use that $270 saving to buy new silicone case, new MagSafe charger, new USB-C power adapter, new screen protector and new belt pouch.

You had me until you said “new belt pouch”. That’s where I draw the line. Pouches are frowned upon here in the states 🤪

Honestly it's the first time that I just don't see for my use case added value to go for the Pro one. So I just go to the non-pro this year.
I'm a tech enthusiast but I don't use telephoto and LiDAR I don't care. I don't plan to shoot/edit photo in RAW too. Plus I prefer aluminium over SS.
My only concern was the 4 vs 6GB RAM but after doing my research, it's should not impact the experience for the next 4 years at least.

If the Pro this year had a little bit more (Hz or less bezel/notch) I would instantly pick it but this year regarding my use of the camera (I really prefer photo on main camera, it looks sharper IMO) it's just €200 wasted.

The regular 12 has an OLED XDR screen and just that fact alone allows me to consider non-pro models for the first time.
It's really amazing that Apple put same screen in the whole lineup

LOL I know not many people carry it now a day, I have been carrying my mobile phones (yes, mobile phones way back to the 1990s with brands like Nokia and Ericsson) on my belt, and still do these days. So even though my iPhone is in a silicone case, it is also protected inside my belt pouch. It also has a screen protector. Never cracked a screen on my phones over the past 20+ years, unlike so many other people I have seen with their ugly cracked screens :D

A few notable reviewers (MKBHD, Gruber) have said they outright prefer the look, feel and weight of the 12 over the 12 Pro... the phones have the identical form factor, and some are preferring aluminum this year

Ok so yes there is a price difference as the Pro has a better specification. But the price difference that we are talking about is only equivalent to the cost of buying a leather iPhone case or a solo loop for the watch.
Its all down to the individual.
You would be amazed at the number of people that buy a cheaper Apple product because its cheaper and then spend hundreds on accessories.
I would rather have the premium phone or watch with just one case or one band than the cheaper phone or watch with 5 cases/bands.
You pay your money and take your choice.

In general, yeah absolutely worth it if only 120$ more because of the better camera and high end material.

BUT iPhone 12 is way lighter and way better to hold when caseless. Well, I can only tell from iPhone 11 series, but the normal glass back is way less slippery than the matte glass back. This plus around 30g less and maybe better reception (aluminium vs stainless steel) would have me buying the normal iPhone 12, despite the nicer looking 12 Pro series with it's stainless steel frame. BTW 12 Pro is around 200€ more incl. Tax where I live. That is around 240$ more.

BTW 12 Mini buyer here.

Lol. That’s hilarious.

In France it's €200 more to go from 12 to 12 Pro at same storage capacity (up to €250 difference if 64 GB is fine). It's really too expansive. You better off go straight to pro max (extra €100 from 12 Pro) to get the best camera if camera is big point for the user and if not I would just go for the regular 12.
It puts the 12 Pro in a very awkward spot with EU pricing IMO.

With +$120 between 12 and 12 Pro in US, I think that's really more complicated to choose between the two if you are not convinced between the two.

Yep it wasn’t already getting pro max then the only one I’d be interested in is the Mini. That’s a larger phone. Certain trade offs you’re making for top features, bigger screen, and specs.

But if not doing that then it’s about form factor, convenience, saving money. Mini wins.

IPhone 12 Pro
vs
iPhone 12 + HomePod Mini + Case
iPhone 12 + AirPods
iPhone 12 + 50mo of 200GB iCloud
iPhone 12 + AppleTV 4k
iPhone 12 + Apple Watch S3
iPhone 12 + MagSafe + Wallet + Case

I went for the Pro but it wasn’t an easy decision considering the amount of stuff you can buy for >$200. Especially considering this is a gen1 redesign and next year will likely be the model that actually fills in missing pieces in a “pro” iPhone (120hz, touchID, actual use for a faster chip, etc)
