Its great how the price of RAM has dropped over the past few months. I ordered 8GB of Crucial RAM for my MBP in November 2010 and paid 170 bucks. (at the time it seemed reasonable) lol

Got mine today along with my Macbook Pro. Both are working great so far.

Did you get it from J&R? what day did you order and where do you live?

that UPS mail innovations tracking website is horrible, this is all it says for mine since it shipped on Tuesday:

Date Description
Jan 25 2011 Package information received by UPS Mail Innovations

Yeah the tracking is bad. I ordered mine Monday and the latest entry was

Jan 27 2011 10:10AM ELECTRONIC SHIPPING INFO RECEIVED

I think that means it is being transferred to USPS from UPS but it is in my city so it shouldn't take much longer. I wish they would at least put an estimated delivery date.

Yeah,

Mail Innovations is horrible I think Pony Express would've been faster  It took a total of two weeks to get mine. It arrive in my city fairly fast and sat around forever before I finally received my memory this Tuesday. Needless to say the memory is safely installed in my MBP, Parallels seems to love the extra memory besides I was able to get it for $74 free ship :D

I wonder if I could just call my USPS office and ask them if I can pick it up myself?

I guess I should have thought of that earlier but I had hope they would delivery today. They are probably closed until Monday now.

Yes I ordered it from J&R. I ordered on Monday afternoon and it got here yesterday (Thursday). I live in Michigan. From the tracking info it shows they shipped it on Tuesday evening.

Just to add. I ordered mine from JR Monday night, and they shipped Tuesday. I received it today here in California. The tracking may not be as good, but it is faster than ground shipping.

Ordered mine Monday, it's been in my city since Tuesday, where Mail Innovations sat on it for 2 days before sending it to the USPS. Last tracking shows it's been with the USPS since 1/27 (shipment acceptance as of 2:43PM) ... in the same city I live in.

I suppose I could understand the delay if it were coming from overseas. For 6-9 days, I expect it to travel through most of the US before getting here, not spend all week in the same city to which it's being delivered. Austin may be big, but we're not *that* big.

Yeah, NEVER doing that again. I've gotten packages from overseas faster :\ Here's hoping that a) it's waiting for me when I get home from work today, and b) that it's worth it.

Does anyone know if the faster memory is compatible with the current MacBook pro? This is pc10600, not the 8500. There is a deal on newegg where it is 15% off all memory I believe with a promo code EMCKJHB26

Here's the crucial 2x4gb that I can currently get for $78. They had the 8500 version for $33 for 4gb but it's currently sold out.

Wow, I really wish I knew about that promo code about 24 hours ago when I ordered my memory for $89.99 from there, could have saved $13!

NewEgg had a killer deal going on, sold out now but may get some more in stock. If anyone wants to keep a lookout for it its PNY Optima 8GB for $84.99 with a $20 mail in rebate. On top of that if you used the promotion code EMCKJHB26 you get %15 off of the ram at check out. Code is only good for ram though. Sold out quick, but it may come back soon, never know. thanx for heads up about this deal, I jumped on it at $74 free shipping, ordered on the 24th, delivered on the 28th. it is living happily inside my mbp now :)

Well I guess I spoke too soon. My ram arrived today. Took about 5 minutes to install (took me a couple minutes to find my little screw driver) and it works great. 2010 Macbook Pro 13".

I bought Kingston RAM from amazon for a little bit more, mainly because they have a better return policy. I've had issues with RAM in the past. Anyways, the kingston 8 GB kit works very well in my plastic macbook incase anyone was considering other manufacturers.

Mine finally showed up today, too. With a little assistance, it installed in a few minutes (seriously, I think it took longer to put all the screws back), and thus far, has been working wonderfully. My VM is much snappier now :)
