Don't believe so, I think it's a limitation of the chipset, not of the ram stick size.

it is a limitation of the chipset. However, I think the documentation for the Santa rosa chipset states that it can address up to 8gb once 4gb sticks become available.

Would that mean that 8gb would be available on the macbook pro as soon as they become available or has apple limited this?
