8GB memory in a 17" Unibody 2.8 Core2Duo?

    Don't quote me on this but I thought I had read somewhere that it could use more than 8GB. I can't seem to remember where though.

    it will use the full 8. I have the 2.66 C2D (regular one available [early 2009] while yours was BTO) and it uses all 8... the limitation of 3.87 or whatever was a few models back from yours.
    As for using more than 8... maybe... I wouldn't want to pay for 8gb sticks though.. IIRC samsung was going to be making some... haven't heard of anyone actually using them though

    I would recommend using SL 64-bit if using greater than 4GB RAM.
