You made a good decision. Although the difference between i5 and i7 is not a night and day in performance, when I am buying something I am going to be relying on for long term, I max out to keep it future proof so I don’t face the regrets now or later.

Once you have it, you own it....after 14 days, no turning back. Lookin. Forward to your thoughts on it.

It’s so dumb to spend money on extra specs that the average user don’t need.

There is NO such thing as future proofing a computer. When the 2018 Macbook is obselete it won’t matter if you sit on x or y CPU or this or that amount of ram, all configs will be obselete!

I’m saying a use case scenario today may not be my use case tomorrow. I got my first MacBook Pro when I was just web surfing, emailing, and using it for word processing and spreadsheets. 9 months later I was learning video editing. At that time I was able to upgrade my own RAM and hard drive to SSD.

Sure, but it’a a minority. That’s why I wrote average user. If you are looking for a computer in the price range of the Macbook pro you already know stuff like how much storage you need tomorrow.

Agree.
Obsolete is really only defined the machines purpose. I can still use my 2007 with only 2 gigs ram to surf internet and word processing.
