Thanks for all the feedback! Just bought the G.Skill and free USB drive using the promo code. Came out to around 48 bucks. Can't wait!

Couldn't help it I also just ordered 8GB of the G.Skill for $53. Next will be an SSD.

I also just bought the G. Skill and cancelled my amazon corsair order and saved myself $10 + got a free flash drive :)

I switched over to G.Skill after the Crucial RAM I used all died within a few months of having them. I had used G.Skill as a cheap replacement for my tower a few years back and realized they had never died, so I put them in my Mac in March. So far so good. I like them so far.

Just got my G.Skill 8gb package and installed with no problems! Seeing a big improvement! Now just waiting for the free 4gb USB drive because I guess they ship them in different packages.

Wanting to upgrade to a SSD next. Does anyone know when we might see a drop in pricing on SSDs or would I see an improvement with just putting a 7200rpm drive?

I also noticed in system profiler the link speed it 3Gbps but the negotiated speed is 1.5Gbps. If I get a 7200rpm drive that will also use the full 3Gbps link speed will that make a bigger difference?

Also got my G.Skill in today and it took all of 10 minutes to install. I notice the system seems much snappier. I received my 4GB USB drive yesterday. Can't beat $46 for 8GBs of ram and a 4GB USB drive. Next year will be a 512GB SSD drive.

I have been using G.Skill for years on all my systems even my gaming system with the ram overclocked. As of right now I have no reason to try another brand.

All major brands have good warranties except Samsung. I have two bad Samsung modules and Samsung won't honor their lifetime warranty. On the phone they initially indicated that green memory is OEM, and therefore not eligible for a warranty. Then they changed their story and indicated that the number on the memory indicates it is OEM, but I purchased the memory at Fry's electronics for my Macbook Pro. So buyer beware of Samsung memory.

Incidentally I have read online that Samsung is not honoring their warranties on several of the other products they sell, such as Samsung refrigerators.

Agreed. I installed 8GB of GSkill in my MBP last week. Works like a champ. All major brands have good warranties and it doesn't truly matter as long as you don't purchase a random brand out of nowhere
