8GB vs 4GB GPU

The thing about 5500M is okay for a laptop of this size, but it's in no way a very powerful GPU. Are there any scenarios in which GPU memory of 4GB would be the bottleneck? When does it make sense to get the 8GB GPU?

Looks like it's important for rendering scenes.

Good for
- Photo Editors
- (maybe) video editing (but doubt it)
- Games
- AR/VR and AR/VR development, as time progresses
