How do you put a jailbroken 9.3.3 iPhone into safe mode?

I've read a load of threads on Reddit but can't find a definitive answer.

I'm jailbroken on 9.0.2 and safe mode have saved my JB more than once when a dodgy tweak update has borked the phone.

I'm still not 100% on updating to a semi tethered JB but the fact I can't see a clear way to enter safe mode is what's mostly holding me back.

Can anyone who's actually JB on 9.3.3 tell me how exactly you get your phone into safe mode.

Thanks.

Hold the volume up button when the device resprings after you re-enable the jailbreak and it should bring you into substrate disabled mode
